What Great Trailer Friends I Have.... Memories of a Past Trailer PARTY...

I just got a call from a great friend who was at my past trailer parties.  She said we need to have another one this year,....  so when the weather warms up... look out... we'll get them cleaned up again.

The One that Got Away...

I've told this story before... but it's worth repeating.  There are always the ones that get away, but still I was grateful to have seen it.  This trailer was in Galena Illinois.  Our family had gone there for a day vacation,  this beauty was going down the road.  I shamelessly followed it until it stopped at a local gas station.  It was an original that had been stored away for years.  It was almost in pristine condition.  It had belonged to a family member who had used it only once or twice then stored it away for 40 years.  I offered them a few of my children for payment, but they didn't bite.  Oh well.... It was great to see it anyway.

Elkhart, Indiana Vintage Trailer Museum

Elkhart Indiana is home to the vintage trailer museum.  These pictures are from several years ago when we stumbled upon this treasure by accident.  I believe they have moved it now to a new location and newer building.  I'm hoping to investigate that more and maybe take a road trip this summer to see the new building.    If anyone knows or has been there recently let me know...

Campfire Tonight at Dusk

One of the inspiration of the Vintage Trailer Park was that we could gather around the campfire and light up all the trailers on a beautiful summer evening sitting in vintage metal lawn chairs.  It was such a fun way to unwind after a long day.  Our fire ring was made from an old washing machine drum.  How redneck is that, but boy does it work.
We saw one being used at a camper rally that we attended.
What is so great is that it can be use anyway... totally portable.

Vintage Trailers are showing up everywhere.  It's cute on the cover of this child's book... "A Camping Spree with Mr Magee".  I love the term spree.... a free spirited outing... that really describes what vintage trailer people are like.

These beautiful trailer interiors are pictures that I found of others people's creativity   When I first started decorating trailers over a decade ago I had never heard of anyone doing this... Now look how it's taken off. So many creative people out there... Making their trailers little pieces of vintage comfort cocoons.

Winter for the Vintage Trailer Lover... can be trying.  I love to go out and play in my little trailers, but not in the winter.  I am encouraged though by the pictures I see on the web of people that decorated theirs for Christmas and winter.  This artist picture is one of my favorites of the little Shasta in the snow.

It was a great time... Have to put that on the list for this summer!!!
