Elkhart Indiana ... Home of the Vintage Trailer Museum

Years ago our family passed through Elkhart Indiana on our way home from a vacation out east.

We saw a wonderful brochure for the Vintage Trailer Museum as we toured the Jayco trailer factory. Unfortunately not very many people in Elkhart knew where it was. After much searching we found it.

It was in an old warehouse building, but I thought it was neat. They had many trailers set up to tour and a wonderful library of all old trailer brochures. They were raising money to move the museum near the interstate. We have not been back, so I've always wondered if they were able to get their new trailer museum built. If anyone knows ... please post pictures of comments. Thanks...

Toy Campers, Trucks and Boats...

We visited our Lake House this weekend. I forgot that I had this toy camper on the dresser in our bedroom. Don't you just love the aqua color!!!
Check out my blog for bridgewaterlakehouse.blogspot.com

Here's the Truck and Boat Set that's also on the dresser. Wouldn't they be fun if they were real. I could take them out to the lake...

Mickey and Minie's Vintage Trailer

This is a framed puzzle that I'm blessed to own. It was a puzzle that was given to me by my mother in a box of "stuff" from my grandmother. It was put in our basement and forgot about until several years after I got into trailers.

One day as if I light bulb went off in my head ... I thought about the forgotten puzzle in the basement. I thought it was Micky Mouse.., but I didn't remember it was a trailer. You can image my great delight when I saw the image. I couldn't put the puzzle together fast enough to see if all the pieces were there.... AND they WERE!!!

My Heart Goes Pitter Patter for Pink Shastas!!!

This is a great Pink Shasta trailer that a proud owner posted many years ago. I think she' from Texas if I remember. It's this a great trailer!!! They did such a great job!!
This is a picture she took with her family. I think the story was they they had stopped at a rest area and this other pink trailer "Lakewood" pulled in beside theirs so they had to get a picture. I would love to meet this fun gal!!

The Mickey Trailer

When my kids were little we had their playroom decorated in Mickey Mouse Stuff. I found most everything at thrift stores or garage sales. When they got older I packed up most of it and took it to a resale shop. They told me that Mickey stuffed animals didn't sell well, so I was out of luck. I took everything back home. Later I acquired another vintage "Yellowstone" 50's trailer. It' was in need of a lot of repair, but I thought it would be fun to decorate it in all my "Mickey" stuff..... So the Mickey trailer was born.

I Love Old Vintage Trailer Photos!!

Isn't this a great classic photo of a vintage Shasta? I'm so sentimental ... I always wonder who are the people in the picture.. Where are they going? What's their life story? etc etc.

Shady Dell Bisbee Arizona... "Sleep in a Vintage Trailer Inn"

Some day I want to visit this Place. I'll put it on my bucket list. Bisbee Arizona is on the border of Arizona and Mexico. I've heard it's a little vintage trailer park that rents out trailers for overnight guests.

I'll take a chocolate malt, fries and a chili dog. The diet can wait.

The New Moon From the Long Long Trailer Movie with Lucy & Dezi

One of my favorite movies is the "Long, Long, Trailer" with Lucy Ball and Dezi Arnez. In the movie it features the "New Moon" trailer. This is the brochure from that actual trailer. If you have never seen the movie it's a must. I think now it's available on DVD. It's so classic vintage!!
